This project transforms an underutilized dirt lot into a welcoming outdoor living room that blends function, beauty, and sustainability. At its heart is a central flagstone patio, offering a natural gathering space for relaxation and connection by the chiminea. The surrounding landscape includes drought-tolerant, native plants that require minimal water while enhancing the space with texture and movement.

Along the perimeter, cactus, agave, and Mexican Feathergrass establish a resilient, low-maintenance border. Short garden beds introduce lavender and rosemary, bringing seasonal blooms and fragrant aromatics that enrich the sensory experience. To complement the ornamental plantings, a Pomegranate and Apricot tree provide shade, seasonal fruit, and a touch of abundance, creating a small-scale food forest within the outdoor living room.

The result is a multifunctional, climate-appropriate garden that turns an overlooked lot into a vibrant space for gathering, growing, and enjoying nature.
